It's nearly impossible to enjoy a large chunk of UT fanart since tons of it shoe horns this ship in for no reason, and has Sans act really out of character. The ship wouldn't bother me so much if so many people didn't act as if it was canon. I don't ship it, but I still try to be tolerant. Now that he's no longer burdened by his quest or the crown and can finally self-reflect and make peace with his choices, I think Asgore will find happiness without her. Continuing to pine for and chase after a woman who despises him isn't remotely healthy. I guarantee you that in a population of thousands of monsters he will find at least one who will love and appreciate him as he is. I don't think it's at all unreasonable that with time their friendship could blossom into something more.Īs for Asgore, it's like folks said at the end: there are plenty of fish in the sea. Now, none of that necessarily means they'll fall in love in the future, but relationships have been founded on far flimsier ground than what they have. That's a pretty big level of trust to have with a person before you've even properly met, and after they do meet they continue to have a great rapport, to the point that Sans even moves in with her during endings where his brother is killed and she survives. Probably for the same reason Jessica Rabbit loved Roger.īesides that, though, Sans and Toriel were friends for a while prior to the ending- they may not have known each other's names or faces, but they knew each other well enough for Toriel to feel comfortable asking him to protect the humans she sent through the door, and for Sans to be willing to say "yes."- a big deal once we realize how seriously Sans takes promises. Sorry if I sounded too repetitive and for the possible text wall. PS: English isn't my mother language, so my vocabulary is a bit limited.
Feel free to join the conversation just don't turn it in a shipwar, please. I want your opinion about it, if you agree or not with this ship. I had those questions in mind for a while now, and really needed to take them off. TL DR I don't hate this ship, I just can't understand how people see Toriel and Sans friendship becoming something else and why is so popular. I'm kinda suspect to talk about it, as I wanted them to be together again (and I love how the game lets their relationship open to interpretations in the end), but the possibility of a serious relationship between Sans and Toriel simply doesn't click in my head. Goat Dad needs some love too (and some respect IMO). It makes me feel sorry for him, as he constantly talks about he just wanted to see Toriel again, and even kills himself when he realizes that his dream of raise Frisk as their kid is practically impossible to accomplish (if you spare him in a second neutral run). It's like he can't just move on, and instead he keeps trying to get with her again (even as a friend, in some cases) and failing miserably.
You see, I wouldn't mind that much with this ship if it wasn't for this detail. For me, Toriel and Sans are together because they were long-term friends and that was the first time they see each other (and because Toriel still was upset with Asgore), and Undyne and Alphys misunderstood what was happening.įor the supporters of this ship, I have another question: Why the majority of the images regarding it involves Asgore in some sort? You can say "It's because they are seen together in the entire true pacifist ending, and how Undyne and Alphys try to comfort Asgore about it".
What people sees in this pairing that it makes it so loved? For me, their relationship is like Papyrus/Undyne: they are great friends with a nice backstory, and it happens to them to be from the opposite sex, and that's it. So I finished the neutral and the true paficist runs today, and I still don't get it.
First I thought it was a crack pairing, or that I missed something since I didn't finished my run. I was looking the KYM gallery of the game, and I was surprised of how many Sans/Toriel images there are. What do you do when you like a game this much? You start to search fanarts of it, of course! I started to play the game this week (mostly because of the massive ammount of spoilers that I was being bombed everywhere) and I loved every second of it.
